Wall of Fame Index

The Racing Wall of Fame

In 1989 I was at the Breeders' Cup when it was held at Gulfstream Park (back when they had a real grandstand and clubhouse).  The Breeders' Cup Classic was a race for the ages with Sunday Silence holding off the late charge of Easy Goer.  For my birthday I received a framed/signed photo of that finish and thus began my Wall of Fame.  As the years went by I added more and more photos each with their own unique story that made the photo and the race and/or horse a particularly unique story for me personally.  Then in 2017 we decided to remodel our kitchen and what at the time was my "office" and converted that into a family room.  So all the photos came down and were stored away in closets.  When the big coronavirus pandemic hit in the Spring of 2020 and racing continued but only via simulcasting/television broadcasting, I "converted" the family room into the "Sunrise Simulcast Center."

On Wednesday March 18th I was watching the TVG broadcast as I played the races and studio host Scott Hazelton said "We're always curious about how you at home are following us, particularly today.  So, send us pictures of how you are spending your day with us."  Well I'd already posted the above photo on FaceBook so I sent it to his Twitter account.  Literally within five minutes, this segment aired on the national TVG broadcast....

And so that led me to revive the Wall of Fame, at least the virtual version so that the photos, horses, and most especially the stories could live on.  Click on the horse name below to read the many really interesting (even to others than me) stories about these great champions.
